Being a vintage auto enthusiast myself, I often attended swap meets and car shows. After talking to countless of other enthusiast about restoring their vintages autos and how many of them were not happy with the reproduction trim. I could clearly see that there was a demand for original restored trim. I practiced with a few pieces and after countless months of work, I was able to restore original trim and also give it a shine like it never had before. I perfected the art of trim straightening, metal finishing and polishing. The majority of the reproduction trim today is made of plated tin or aluminum. Some of the repro stainless is a very low quality thin material that does not shine or even fit like the old original stainless (alloy) does.

I’ve had numerous customers that either threw out or sold their original trim not knowing that it could be restored; and then purchasing the reproduction trim. The majority of them were very unhappy with the reproduction trim, so they then had to attend swap meets and purchase original trim and have it restored. For those individuals it did not only cause frustration, but it also drove up the cost of the restoration process.

If you are building the vehicle of your dreams, then keep it all original, just like it was when you started your dream of owning one.
